Privacy Policy – RADAR Study Portal

The RADAR Study Portal is operated by a research team at King’s College London (KCL). The Portal supports mobile health research studies by allowing participants to log in, complete questionnaires, and connect devices such as Fitbit. This page explains how your data is handled.
1. Who we are
The RADAR Study Portal is managed by King’s College London as part of its research infrastructure. Each individual study using this platform has its own research team who act as the data controller. KCL provides and maintains the Portal as a data processor on their behalf.

2. What data we collect
- Name and email address
- Demographic information (such as age or gender)
- Survey and questionnaire responses
- Linked device or app data (e.g., Fitbit, wearable sensors)
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information
- Cookies (see the study's Cookies Policy)
3. How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Set up and manage your account
- Display and collect questionnaires
- Connect to external data sources you authorise
- Maintain and secure the Portal
- (If approved) monitor site usage via Google Analytics
4. Where and how your data is stored
Your data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the United Kingdom (or the European Economic Area for EU studies). It is encrypted and kept only for the duration of your study’s data collection period before being securely transferred to your study team.
5. Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent to participate and, where appropriate, KCL’s legitimate interests in securely operating the Portal. Each study provides full details in its own information sheet.
6. Your rights
You have rights under UK and EU data protection law to:
- Access a copy of your data
- Ask for corrections or deletion
- Withdraw your consent
- Limit or object to how your data is used

7. Keeping your data secure
Your information is protected using encryption, secure servers, and strict access controls. Only authorised KCL staff and the relevant research team can access your data.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be shown here with a new “last updated” date.
